the average samurai lived to be 19, while the average ninja lived to be 37

Fact: Records from Japan's feudal period suggest that the average samurai lived to be 19, while the average ninja lived to be 37.
What I took from this: There is a lot to be said for being discreet.

: Sheep are the most common animal mentioned in the New Testament.
What I took from this: Never under estimate the power of the pen, especially when a writer knows his audience.

Fact: The Vatican has a 5,000 square foot library that was sealed in 1215, with specific instructions that it was not to be opened until February 19, 2010.
What I took from this: In 1215 Pope Innocent III instituted the idea that people should confess their sins to priests, when 10 short years before he had consigned Jews to continual subjugation for nailing Jesus to the wall. Which if you think about it, since Jesus had to die for our sins to give his life meaning weren’t they doing us a favor? In his own words Pope Innocent III said, Jews "shall not dare raise their neck, bowed under the yoke of perpetual slavery." My guess is that anyone that judgmental and willing to condemn probably has a lot of skeletons in his closet that he would rather not see the light of day.

Fact: Recent news from North Korean reports that the North Korean government has banned post-it notes due to fears they will be used by dissident groups in order to undermine the regime and further dissent.
What I took from this: When Kim Jong Il tells us that everyone in North Korea loves him, they love eating only three times a week and that his government is fair, just and stable, he isn’t being completely straight with us.

Fact: 12 out of 13 UFO sightings are made by people without college degrees.
What I took from this: Dexter Manley graduated from college with a degree from the University of Virginia and he couldn’t even read.

Fact: George Washington's original hair color was red. George Washington was a self-avowed atheist.
What I took from this: See see see, I told you. America was built on traditional family values. A wooden toothed, red headed atheist with an English accent.

Fact: In a traditional Uzbek wedding, the ceremony ends when the bride spits on the shoes of the groom.
What I took from this: It’s an Uzbekistani tradition for the bride to let her new husband know that she won, he lost.

30% of Americans refuse to sit on a public toilet seat.
70% of Americans find peculiar rashes and spots of discoloration on their asses and genitals from time to time.

In 1920 the Russian transplant pioneer Serge Voronoff made headlines by grafting monkey testicles onto human males.
I think I just discovered the Godfather of Nazi science. I thought only a Nazi would graft monkey nuts on someone. That's pretty disturbing to say the least. Not so much that people were walking around barefoot in a lab with a pair of Gorilla nuts hanging down to their knees but that the "mad scientist" cliché we all know so well from schlock sci-fi was actually art imitating life. Jeeesh.
