The First Human To Live To 1,000 Has Already Been Born

Aubrey de Grey, a biomedical gerontologist from Cambridge University, told a group of scientists meeting at Oxford University for a conference on life extension and enhancement, that the first person to live to 1,000 has already been born. He believes that periodic repairs to the body using stem cells, gene therapy and other techniques could eventually stop the aging process entirely.
Richard Miller of the Michigan University Medical School said we have already learned that we can extend the lifespan of Mice by 40% by simply reducing their caloric intake.
Transferring that to human beings means extending life expectancy within our species from 80 to 112. Then when you toss in that gene therapy stuff now we are getting to 1,000 years old.
Don’t read too much into this but I can tell you right now that I have no desire to live be 1,000 years old.
I doubt I would even want to live to be 112.
Even with the body of a 30-year-old I doubt I would want to live to be 1,000 years old.
Don’t take that to mean I am suicidal or something because I am not. Do I love living? Sure I do but like everything, I think even living has its limits.
Who wants to see Michael Jordan dominate basketball for 100 years?
Prince would have about 1000 albums in 1000 years.
Institutions like marriage would just have to be abandoned altogether. Marriage for life was a great idea when people lived to 45, its ridiculous when you are talking about living to 1,000.
Social security? For get about it. Maybe at 800 you can go on social security.
Who wants to work for 800 years even if you are in the body of a 25 year old?
Mentally that can’t be healthy.
How many kids can a woman spit out during her lifetime if she gets to live to 1,000? How many children can a guy father by himself if he is living to 1,000 and is capable of getting a woman pregnant well into his 700s?
There would have to be an understanding, if you take these treatments to live to 1,000 we have to snip your testicles.
A single man could father an entire nation of children by himself given 1,000 years to work with.
The term our founding fathers would be quite literal.
John Harris, Professor of Bioethics at the University of Manchester, said, "If it is right and good to postpone death "Life saving is just death postponing with a positive spin," for a short time, it is hard to see now it would be less right and less good to postpone it for a long while."
Like I said, I am with you to a point.
Erections that can cut steel are good too, but you have to consult a physician if even those last more than four hours.
